We purchased a high quality artist signed Cameo for my mother-in-law which I decided to make a custom presentation box for. I made it out of Teak and Spalted Maple. The top has a brass lift and brass inlay around the edges. You can see in the below pictures I used my oscillating sander with the table set at 45 degrees to make a perfect corner miter for the brass. This is far easier than trying to cut the miter. I used Walnut for the interior sleeve along with Sapele for the compartment dividers. The top is humidor tight. The bottom (Baltic Birch ply) is lined with lamb suede. The Cameo is supported by a hard piece of foam that I carved to match the Cameo shape and then covered in blue satin. As with all of my boxes, the interior pieces are friction fit and able to be removed. In the below pics I have not yet glued the suede so you can see the edge is off. It'll be corrected as soon the the finish dries. Finish is Teak oil. This was about a 2 day project.
