Buffing wheel on lathe

Want to do a little buffing but don't want to spend all that money on one of those systems?

Piece of 2x4, a piece of (5/8" in my case) dowel.

Drill some holes. I drilled the 1/4" center hole first, should have started with the 3/4" forstner. The lip is for the flange on the buffing wheel, if you have a good buffing wheel that has not been sitting in an old tool box for over 20 years you might not have to deal with the flange. After drilling holes I made it (mostly) round.

Close up of the center of the wheel, the flange here sticks up just enough that I needed to put a lip on the inside of one of the bushing things I made.
