Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum

I am a law enforcement officer with a 6 month old and needed a solution for keeping my family safe and also keeping my guns away from my kid. I built two of these night stands and the matching dresser is next. The drawer operates on a blue tooth lock so I can either wave an RFID card in front of the door or I can open it with a button on my phone. The whole thing will be anchored to the studs with 3” lags for added safety. The carcass is made out of 3/4” Baltic birch ply. The base and drawer fronts are poplar. The top is solid walnut and the drawers are 1/2” ply that I edge banded to look more like solid wood. All the painted parts got two coats of shellac based primer and two coats of sherwin Williams pro classic. The finish came out like glass. The top has two coats of oil and three coats of GF enduro car. The drawer pulls did not arrive in time for the contest! But they are a modern style pull. Just got in to wood working in the last couple years so it has been a learning experience. Thanks.
