Small Space Bar Table
This project was done for a class at the Cleveland Institute of Art. I wanted to create something that was both modern and classic in style and materials. My final piece is this small bar table made of curly maple.

This image shows the final piece with the matching set of hand-thrown ceramics and cork serving tile.

This is the sketches I did initially to start figuring out what I wanted to design.

Before I started to build anything physically in the shop Id designed the table in Fusin360 to explore scale and visual weight. This image is a 3D render of the final 3D model.

This image is a 3D render of the final 3D model showing the removable tray feature.

This image is a 3D render of the final 3D model showing some more detailing.

from the 3D model I was able to export all my drawing I would need to cnc and cut my wood from

Before I cut my maple I did a test in MDF to test process and scale. this image shows those raw cut parts.

This image shows a rough prototype in MDF I did before going to maple.

I used a ShopBot 3 axis cnc for the majority of the cutting. This image shows the curved parts being 3D milled.

Here are those curved parts before manually shapping and glue up.

The piece is all glued together and required some strange jigs to set biscuits in the curved sections.

Here is that set up from a different angle.

This image shows the recently trimmed ceramic before bisque firing.

Here I am trimming the cups after I threw them.

This image shows those finished hand-thrown ceramics that would come along with the bar.

A detail of the ceramics.

This image is a detail of part of the upper tray showing that cork tile, the ceramics in their cut out, and the grain flows.

Another detail showing off the milled sections and that great curly.

This last image is just to show the whole piece again showing that tray sitting on cork feet.
