It is indeed cherry. Good eye! The front is birch plywood, painted with a water based lacquer. It is glued on "shelves", which are glued to the side on the inside of the cabinet. The screen'is screwed on to those shelved as well.
It runs a retro-pie, and a 2-player Xin-Mo microcontroller, so nothing special there really.
