Black Walnut Coffee Table
Here's a coffee table that I just delivered over the weekend. It's not my typical style of furniture, so it was cool to learn some new things and add some new technique to my arsenal. The client loved it and those make for some great deliveries.
Some features:
- A beautiful hunk of black walnut with a spine of crotch grain running down the center
- Two independent front legs with a 5 degree splay and 7 degree rake. The legs also have complimentary tapers on all 4 sides.
- A single wide rear leg with matching angles that is mortised into the top
- A shelf for remotes and such that has a through dovetailed corner and is mortised into both the top and leg. It makes for a rock solid and stable single leg
Thanks for looking. Hit me up with questions, critiques, criticism.
That's some beautiful walnut on the coffee table! Fantastic design and the joinery is very nicely done! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I'm usually doing squares, rectangles, and boxes, so that big hunk of walnut was strange to deal with.
