Pair of Keepsake Boxes in Pomelle Figured Sapele
I finished up and delivered this matching pair of boxes a few weeks ago and the client was pumped with how they turned out.
Some features:
Both boxes are matching and made from the same 8/4" board of beautiful pomelle figured Sapele
Simple through dovetails for the box construction and mortise and tenon top.
Brass accents all around, with Brusso hinges and pulls, brass pinned tenons, and vintage solid brass latches.
Raised panel in the lid with small mitered cherry trim. Also, a raised panel for the bottom to add some weight.
The interior has a sliding removable till and a separate compartment on the side with a hinged lid
Finished with six coats of shellac, sanded way out to #2000 grit, then waxed and buffed

Oh my gosh, I just love this box. It's so beautifully made between the design, joinery, finish, and lumber used. Thank you very much for sharing your work. It's such an inspiration to us all!
Hey thanks, I appreciate that!
