1hr Box Challenge

My attempt at the 1hr box challenge

It did take me less than an hour to make that horrible wooden box ,

made with palet wood and chinese takeout chopstick as dowels

The total time from plank to the end is 39 min

this is the plank i'm going to turn into a box ,
it's in very rough shape and full of holes but i didn't find great pallet wood lately ( i use to have oak but i've used it for something else)
Sorry for the broken english , i'm from france , and it's well known that we are not great for foreign languages.

the 4 sides are cuted to equal width with a circular saw

I'm going to assemble the box like this

I'm setting the depth of cut to 7mm to make the grove for the bottom of the box

I did two pass because the width of my saw blade was to narrow

Here im starting to assemble the planks and drilling to put the dowels in place

Banging in the last dowels ,
3 chopticks went into this box !

Measuring my box i see that it's 11 centimeters wide , but my widest plank is only 9,5 centimeters.

Then I remembered that I had a piece of a blue CHEP palet that was a little more wide than the rest of my planks , and after verification it's just the good width.

I was affraid i would have to glue 2 planks together to make the top and loose a lot of time

I did sand a little the sides of the box , but i didn't know how much time was left so it was not very well done

about a year ago i found an old leather couch in the street ,
i had a pocket knife in my bag , so i salvaged a big piece of leather from it , i've cutted two small strip from this pièce using simple scissors.

after taking the photos on the computer i saw that i only taken 39 minutes and that i had ample time to sand and finish the box but it was already to late ,
making the galery and the comments has taken me a lot more time than to make , the box
