Queen Sized Bed Frame

author-gravatar craigschriver Sep 13, 2015

My wife and I finally bought a house, so I made a queen sized bed for the guest room.  It is made entirely from 2x construction lumber.  I modified some plans by Matthias Wandel to fit a box spring as well.  Here are his plans: http://woodgears.ca/bed/index.html

I bought eight, eight foot 2x10s and thirteen 2x4s to build this project.  I have quite a few cutoffs left over that I can use for smaller projects.

Here are some of the pieces rough cut.

The joinery is pocket holes and glue.

Here is a test fit before shaping and sanding.  The bed fit very well!

All finished except for sanding and paint.

I painted the bed frame with primer for now.  We do not know what color we will paint the room, so we can easily change the bed color later.
