Saddle Square

What's a saddle square? It's a layout tool that lets you transfer a line around a corner. This video demonstrates the tool in use:

Cutting dovetails in 5/4 padauk is not somthing I am looking forward to again any time soon

That center tail is a lot thinner than I wanted it. The good thing about wood this hard and dense is it takes great details

The center pin is so thin I had to remove the last bit of waste from the baseline with a dovetail saw.

I seated it with only hand pressure to estimate if anything would split or not, then just grabbed the hide glue and hammered it in. I'm pretty surprised it worked
