Board Layout and Case Joinery

author-gravatar guyswoodshop Jul 08, 2016

I take some time explaining how I go about selecting and dimensioning the lumber for specific parts of the case. Then I create a shop made doweling jig to join the case together. Sorry for the length of this video, but I felt that the specifics of this process was necessary. Please let me know if the length of the video is fine or not, so I can break up future videos into separate videos instead of one longer video.

This was a great video @guyswoodshop . I really like the doweling jig. So clever and easy to use.

Thanks @Sean! I haven't used this method in about 15 years or so. Thought it would be a good technique to show on this build.
Great stuff Guy! The length is just right and the level of detail is terrific. You're right that not everyone has a Domino and this is a great example of using a simple to make jig to get great looking joinery.

Glad you liked the jig for the dowels. Dowels really are a great way to do joinery. A little fussy, but still a great alternative method. And I really labored over the length of the video. Still hard to wrap my head around the idea that I can keep as much detail as they need in them.
