Fitting the bottom panel

Finish The Finish
When brushing the shellac in episode 4, I must have laid it on thick because I had some runs to deal with in this episode. I show you how to use some steel wool to take care of them. Plus, we wax our box for a glass smooth look.

Cutting The Rabbet
Since the bottom panel is 5/8" thick, we first cut a 1/4" wide, 3/8" deep rabbet around all four sides of the bottom panel. This lifts the box 1/8" off the ground once installed. A nice subtle feature.

It's probably good to have that little gap all the way around to allow for movement.

Good stuff Sean, I'll be cutting my parts and mitering the corners tonight .

Yeah I agree. It's just one of those things where no matter how perfect everything is setup, it still came out with these slight imperfections. Which is fine with me. Thanks for watching.
