Hippo Chair

author-gravatar scoogen Jun 22, 2015

Hippo Chair that I just finished for my daughter's set.  Figured I'd throw this up for the contest because it has some curves to it.  Got lucky and just finished it today.

Hand drawn design on Lodgepole Pine from Lowes

Jigsaw to cut all the curves, circular saw for the straight lines (seat and back)

Painted with Valspar Reserve semi-gloss.

Here's the hippo drawn out and the top left is the seat.

These rock! My niece and nephew would love these.

These are cute, I have a niece who would dig these, maybe I'll try something similar. How did you join the seat and back to the Hippo?

I was wondering the same thing. I thought about it a bit and I would probably use pocket holes and fill them in with the little fillers you can buy.

I actually just drove screws right through from the outside in. Was a three hand job, used my wife to hold the boards while I drove the screws. There's also a hefty amount of wood glue in there too.

Used screws cause I figured when my little one grows up I can gradually raise the seat to follow her.
