Curved Walnut Sofa Table

author-gravatar mattcremona Feb 15, 2016

The table is essentially 3 panels suspended from each other by the legs. Each panel had breadboard ends and those breadboards are what join the panels to the legs. The subtop is joined to the legs with a dovetail socket and the shelves are joined to the legs with twin tenons. The dividers are joined with multiple stub tenons into the subtop and the upper shelf. The breadboards on the shelves are half blind pinned so the pins do not show from the top side which helps to keep the design relatively clean and simple. The top features a bookmatched crotch grain with a 1/8” cherry perimeter inlay. The table is curved along the front and sides and the curve carries down through the structure including the drawer. The drawer front is curved on the inside and outside to match the curve of the table. The drawer is joined with half blind dovetails in the front and through dovetails in the rear and has a beveled panel bottom.

Materials: Walnut, Cherry (top inlay), Ash (drawer internals)

Dimensions: 46” Long x 35.5” Tall x 16” Deep

Stunning work, Matt. From the choice in lumber to the cherry inlay, it turned out amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much Sean!
