A few years ago we lost a huge 100+ year old red oak tree on our farm in a wind storm, at the time I didn’t think much of it and sawed the tree into firewood for the shop. 5 years later I made it to the bottom of the fire wood pile and thought that the oak looked too good to burn, so I split some blanks from the firewood and made up a coupe fly boxes on the router table…I only wish I would have saved more of the oak! Boxes use a inset leather hinge and magnets to hold closed, and cork strips to hold the flies.
