Monitor Stand
Project Completed: July 2017
This was first major woodworking projects. I wanted a monitor stand for work to raise my monitors up. I been having shoulder issues from how I had to sit, and since work didn't seem like I was going to get a new chair anytime soon, I had to take matters into my own hands. Thus, a monitor stand. The monitors sit above, and below it sits the dock for the laptop.
Made out of pine, I designed it in Google Sketchup. From there, I started building.

Designed in Google Sketchup, it's 54" by 15" and 5" tall. Combined with my monitors allowed me roughly 5" of clearance from my the shelf above my desk.

The Center is 24" wide and goes all the way back. There is a cutout for wires and air. I offset the sides to help keep junk from getting deep in the cubby hole and to allow various things to be stored as well.

The boards. I do not recall how many boards of pine I started with, but I do believe they were 1" x 6" x 6'

Oooo look paint stirs. And I still am using them as paint sticks.

Dry fitting with the top.

Dry fitting without the top.

Glue up time.

All glued up, now to sand down.

I believe this is just a 1/2" round over done by router.

Not pictured is me cutting out the cut out.

And of course rounded over as well.

Glueing and screwing the bottom boards to the top.

Everything done, time for stain!

Just different shots of the stain.

Added "Liquid Glass" to the top. This was my first time using epoxy. Had some issues with it, but I think it turned out alright.

Buffing for that shine.

All done!

Placed on desk with everything setup.
