Triangle Shelf

Just a simple triangle shelf I made for a buddy out of pine. I stained it black and special walnut. I've made a few more since this one. I actually got some step dowels I am going to experiment with to see how those work with these shelves.

I'd say your buddy is very happy to have it! You did an excellent job with the stain, especially on pine. What was your recipe?

Yeah pine is very susceptible to blotching. I cleaned it with mineral spirits, used minwax pre-stain, let it sit for about 45 minutes, and then put a pretty heavy coat of black stain. I let that sit for about 5 minutes then wiped it off and was satisfied. The special walnut was the same process but I put 3 coats on. I didn't thin the stain or anything.
