Dog Bowl Stand
After seeing MMWoodstudio's Nakashima inspired dining room table, I really wanted to build one. Unfortunately I have no need or space for that size table so I thought I'd scale it to size and build a dog food and water bowl stand for my 15 month old Newfoundland Tito.
This is the thread with the original sketchup design. https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/comments/4p4pxy/opinions_on_design_dog_bowl_stand/
I am in the middle of rugby season and home renovations so it got pushed to the back burner until a couple weeks ago which worked out perfect for the popular woodworking pet contest I saw on r/woodworking.
The legs are bridle joints with through mortise and tenon for the middle stretcher. Those joints were hand cut and the bowl cutouts and tapered top were done with router and table saw respectively.

My handsome Newf Tito.

Side view of finished project.

Top view to see the unique grain.

Side view of the mortise and tenon. Used brace and bit to remove the majority of the mortise.

Middle stretcher was shaped with a block plane from square stock.

Bridle joints done by hand. Very fun

Slightly proud tenon. I was hoping to drawbore or wedge this but ran out of time.

Did just wipe on poly. I may go with Epifanes if it starts to degrade

Poor guy was a bit confused!
Nice design and build! I may borrow this one! Thanks for sharing!
