For the scrap wood challenge, I made a cake stand for my neighbor who is opening a bakery

Top glued up.  Just ran a few pieces through the table saw to get uniform thicknesses on each side

Planed top (bad snipe, need to work on my planer)

Bottom turned on the lathe.

Oooh, happy with the transition from bottom to spindle.  Was worried about it

Through together a quick and dirty circle cutting jig.  Not terrible happy with it.  The nail let it move a bit so I had some cleanup to do on the edge afterwards.  Thankfully, I rounded over the edge on the bottom which helped

Top cut!  Lessons learned, will make a better jig for next time out of plexiglass

Dry fitting parts, used a 1/4" dowel for alignment

Drill for weight while the glue dries

Two coats of Gel Urethane, will do 3-4 more, but good enough for pictures
