Quick wedge lock panel gauge from some cherry and padauk scraps

Padauk lath and wedge, cherry fence. I shaped and hardened a 4D nail for the cutter.

The wedge mortise was cut with just a mortise chisel at about a 10 degree angle. It locks firmly. Because it locks form the rear, force on the fence just makes the wedge tighter so it will not move/loosen during use

Fence. Meh - not too happy with the shape and it could be a tad longer, but the lath and wedge fit so well that I don't want to mess with it. Finish is just BLO

Pretend this is cherry. I started off with walnut, but I didn't like the look after the test fit so I used cherry instead. This is a rough piece that came out of my scrap pile

Planed it flat

Scrap of padauk. I got it completely square

Lath drilled out. The Narex mortise chisels are actually pretty decent at pounding out the waste.
