Harley Cabinet

author-gravatar SL1800 Jun 16, 2018

My dog Harley past away last winter at the age of 16.5 years. I built this cabinet to hold his urn and a few of his favorite toys. This is a Krenov style cabinet from the plans by Mike Peckovich.

Its made from quarter sawn white oak, the cabinet is finished with blonde shellac, the stand was fumed with Ammonia and top coated with garnet shellac.

The proud dovetails were all cut by hand, the through tenon mortises were cut on a hollow chisel mortiser.   The Kumiko pattern in the center of the door was made using the techniques laid out in the plans.

This was a great project for learning a few new things and in the end a piece that I’m really proud of.
