Wow fantastic! I love how you found the perfect wood color variation and then book matched the grain on the board. Very creative! And that glue-up is almost as complex as a segmented bowl glue-up! Good job!
The box is 11x6x3. BLO is a close guess. I went with Danish oil and wax on this one. It was a first for me. For the there are no felt feet. I made the rabbet deeper to make the base of the box sit proud of the box sides. This elevates the box about an 1/8” giving a cool shadow line. Ill see if I can add a picture to the project to show you what I mean. Thanks for the positive feedback.
I used Watco Danish Oil. I had never used it before and I wanted to try something a little different. It defiantly darkens up the wood. I think also letting the cherry age for a few years helped to darken it.
Yeah I think you built yours not long after mine and I kind of wish I would have seen yours first. I would have taken a little inspiration from yours. I think I am going to add some “crubber” to the top of mine. That was a great idea.
Thanks so much for the kind words. It took me probably 3 months to get it mostly done as woodworking is just a hobby for me. But it is still somewhat of a work in progress. I used I think 10-15 sheets of ply which will make up the bulk of the cost. I found cheap drawer slides on eBay that work really well. And hinges and handles on amazon.
Wow this is flippin’ amazing... I’m drooling. I want to build one just like it! How long did it take you and could you give me a rough estimate on material costs? Again, aaammmaaazzziiinnnggg work!

Simple magazine rack
Great project. Do you have any pictures of the bottoms of the shelf that keeps the magazine from falling out of the bottom?

Great design. I agree the wooden pulls were the right choice.

I think I used 10-15 sheets total but that’s a rough guess. I’ll see if I still have the drawing and add the other page to my post if I still do.

I’m afraid I don’t have plans and can’t claim the design. Check out Jay Bates on YouTube. This is modeled after his design and modified for my needs.
