Greene And Greene Inspired Entryway Table
My husband and I needed an entryway table to replace the one we bought from Target almost 7 years ago. I love Greene and Greene furniture and decided to incorporate some of their design elements into my table. I referred to Darrell Peart's books for guidance on how to create the details I used in the piece. I also rent space at a local woodshop and was able to get advice along the way, for which I'm incredibly grateful. This was a fun and challenging build, and I'm looking forward to creating more G&G inspired pieces. Bonus: my cats are very fond of the piece too.
The beginning - doing an initial dry fit on a workbench.
Another dry fit to see how the panels fit.
Plane spotting! Using a router plane to clear out the slots that will hold the side and back panels.
Another dry fit with the top.
Leg indent details.
A closer look.
Cloud lifts and brackets.
Dry fitting the bottom rail.
More dry fitting.
The time my piece grew tentacles. Dry fitting before glue up. My shopmates decorated the piece with plane shavings. :D
All glued up.
Drawers in and ebony plugs finished.
All done!
Beautiful table! I love all of the fine details that G&G gives.
Thank you so much!
