Music/Jewelry Box In Leopardwood With Reuge 36 Note Movement
This is a jewelry/music box I made for my niece for this past Christmas out of Leopardwood (aka Lacewood). This wood is somewhat difficult to work with as it tends to tear out a lot. I also suffered an allergic reaction to the wood which required a high dose of steroids for 10 days and took a full month to recover from. I got a breakout of hives on the insides of my elbows and back of my neck along with a flush feeling. I will no use this wood again.
This box is finished in boiled linseed oil. It has goatskin suede lining the bottom and the inner boxes. I used Brusso hardware with a humidor lockset. It also has a cedar lip for better sealing. I used a Reuge 36 note music movement.
