This was a quick project for my sister-in-law who mounts butterflies. She asked for a custom sized box having not been able to find anything commercial. I love projects that I can measure in hours instead of days. This project has no more than 4 hours or so start to finish. It is a simple cherry box with mitered corners using miter keys. The hinges are cheap big-box $3 hinges. I also used rare-Earth magnets to hold the lid shut. You can see 3 magnet pairs in the pictures. The 2 smaller outer magnets were no where near strong enough to reliably keep the door shut so I used another larger magnet in the middle. That one has plenty of power. I cut it slightly off as I was using my brand-new drill press with laser guides and wrongly assumed the guides were accurate. They were not! HA!
