Hardly any progress photos. The drawers are doweled. The insert was a pain in the ass, a dado stack would have made it so much easier.

The entire box came from a single 2x4, except for the carvings and some inserts. Carvings are cherry.

The gold leaf turned out... fine... I lost the teeth detail, oh well...

Hinges and pulls from Horton Brasses.

The finish I attempted with just black dye added to poly, but that wasn't near dark enough. Added a layer of gel stain, and then another layer of poly to seal it. It's a bit thick actually, so I'll need to adjust the fit of the drawers a little bit.

Filled.
