Redwood Table
Building a redwood dining table.
using white oak for the aprons, and dyeing/staining to redwood needle green as an accent.
top and legs finished with teak oil, and will be coated in a poly to protect the top from our kids.
some neat facts about this project for me, it has a lot of firsts. this is the first time i have ever resawn lumber. this is the first time i have used mortise and tenon joinery. this is project has not been designed, it has come as the material dictates and wifely requirements change.
Thanks for looking.

the slab in its natural habitat

4 1/2 smoother used to flatten first side. then used a long low angle jack even it out.

slab with some mineral spirits to pop the grain for the wife

close up of the grain

no action shots, to busy working. but gluing up the top after being resawn on my laguna 1412 with a resawking

never enough clamps, i need more clamps, and clamp storage

after taking off the clamps. you can see the laguna 1412 in the background

table frame in the making, redwood legs from the same slab 2"x2" with white oak for the aprons. these will be dyed/stained to the color of redwood needles

another view of the frame, any catch the problem here?
apron not flush with legs. rookie mistake, trimmed legs down to be flush.

here are the legs, another first for me. i built a jig and tapered them. about 5-6" down from the top to the bottom they lost ~3/4"

here is the top, after progressive sanding to 220 and first coat of teak oil.
