This is a chest strong enough to support actors dancing on top of it, but hopefully made more like furniture, and less like a stage prop so its life extends beyond the show.
Project design for approval by the playwright, producer, and director.
Surfaced planed 2x4's too heavy for furniture, but strong enough to jump on during the show and then hand cut all the angles.
Routed out the mortise and tennons for a pre-fit.
Lathe strip edges were squared and joined with the hand plane.
An old TV tray planed, jig saw cut, and cleaned up with a spokeshave.
