Wine Clock
Wanted to make something different from the norm, so I made a wine clock. Made from Mahogany Cherry Oak and Hickory. Sorry for the poor pictures in some of the photos.

Well this is what the end product is, The cork screw handle is Hickory, the wine bottle is Oak, the wine glass is Cherry, the top and bottom as well as the little shelve and wood face where the clock face insert sit is all Mahogany the four sides of the clock (frame) is Cherry

better view of the cork screw, I tried my luck with making different ones but ended up with what you see.

The wine bottle and cup / wine glass - I had some labels made up that say "It's wine o'clock somewhere"

The wine bottle and wine glass started out as stringers from a pallet taken home from work - I get them in Oak, Cherry, Maple, The company that I work at just dumps them in the garbage, So it is free wood

I cut the stringers in half as they come in lengths of up to 42 inches, I pass them on the planer to clean up the sides and then glue them.

The reason that the wine bottle is Oak and the wine cup is Cherry is that there was a big flaw in the wood (sometimes) and I can only use half of the blank
I am making 3 more of the wine clocks

the dims are 24.5 inches tall 10 inches wide 4.5 inches (thickness)

with out the corkscrew

I was thinking of bringing them to a make your own wine store and see if they would like to hang them as a display and get feed back from the customers, not sure if there is a market for them, but they are fun to make.

I find it easier to turn the bottle and cup at the same time from the blank, Once it is sanded I then put on 4 to 5 coats of Tungoil and sand in between each coat, I then do the same when I put on the poly. I only cut them into two pieces once they are smooth as silk I then hollow out the wine glass and treat the inside of the cup the same as the out side.
