Entry Bench

author-gravatar sidfarkus Oct 02, 2016

An entry bench of my own design.  Built from big box select pine and finished with milk paint and polyurethane.  If I built it now I would add a face frame to give the cubbies some weight to them and knock an inch off the height.

Case finished without the top and base.

The base was made from some alder I got for free; I've never worked with alder before but it was a pain to work with as it fuzzed easily.

The top had a rail that was doweled into it.  It ended up being just warped enough that I needed to fill part of the gap.

After 3 coats of milk paint.  I used old fashioned milk paint and mixed the brown and black till I found an 'expresso' color we liked.

Finished and waiting for the back.
