I make furniture. Mostly for family. Sometimes for other people.
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Do you have any plans you could share, especially tips or more pictures of the base? I love what you did. Thanks.
Thanks! I don't have any plans, I just designed around what my wife generally wanted. It's about 60" long, just shy of 19" deep, and about 33" tall. The case itself is about 27" tall, and the base lifts it 5" or 6" off the floor. The drawers are all about 8" tall. The vertical divider down the middle is a solid panel that goes the full depth of the case, and sits in a dado.
I'll add a photo of the dry fit fo the base.
Love the contrast with the painted base and the cherry. Thanks for sharing!
They look great, thank you for sharing! I am about to start working on something similar in terms of joinery, and look in general. The part i am least comfortable with is painting. I would love for it to look good, and be durable. Any tips?
I'm no paint expert. I used some latex paint that we already had in the house. So, my recommendation would be to mix the paint, dip the brush into the paint, and then brush the paint onto the wood. I tried to do thin coats. I think I ended up doing three coats.
Wow, that is outstanding work! Such a beautiful blanketchest. Thank you for sharing here on Simplecove.
