A Box For Aunt Gail

author-gravatar Timmy2Hands Apr 27, 2019

My Aunt Gail is heading back up North for the season and I thought I would send her back with a gift.

This box is 6 7/8" wide, 4 3/4" deep, and almost 4" tall including the lid.

The sides are made from 1/2" Walnut and the lid is 13/16" thick African Padauk. The bottom panel is 1/4" Birch Plywood.

The lid has a 3/16" overhang all the way around and a 3/16" x 1/4" rabbet to fit the interior dimension of the box and just lifts off. It is bevelled both top and bottom.

The mitered corners are reinforced with Padauk splines.

The finish is Watco Danish Oil in natural, and Alfie Shine hard wax polish.
