Walnut and Poplar Picture Frame

author-gravatar WoodGate Feb 10, 2020

I made this Walnut picture frame from rough sawn stock. I used a large router-table molding bit. Large bits are dangerous and hard to use, The stock tended to tilt into the blade due to the large negative area at the bottom of the bit. For future moldings I will use a stacked feather board to keep the wood tight against the fence. Inner frame is linen wrapped Poplar. The picture my wife painted and is one of the buildings on the "Cairnwood" estate just outside of Philadelphia. We hope to enter this picture in an upcoming art show.

That profile is really nice. Great job on the frame!

The picture frame looks great! Can you share some more detail on the router bit make/model number?

Thanks all!

@jalpino - The router is a Bosch MRP23EVS in the Bosch RA1181 router table. The bit is Yonico 16191.
