Quilted Maple Wall Hanging Cabinet
I wanted to build a nice wall hanging cabinet and found the perfect piece of quilted maple to make it pop. The case was joined using dovetails, the shelf is inset into some stopped dados and the doors are hung using some mortised hinges. Check out the build video and let me know what you think!
Supplies used:
General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Semi Gloss
Mortise Butt Hinges

The panels are gorgeous. I'm just curious how you smoothed the panels. As I understand, figured grain can tear out a lot if you use a regular hand plane. How did you go about treating this very beautifully figured timber?
After resawing them I ran them through my drum sander and then sanded with orbital sander. I tried planing them just a tiny bit and got massive tear out so that was a no go. Thanks!

I love the look of this project. It is many of the things I love rolled into one awesome project-- asian influence, dovetails, walnut, bookmatching, and quilted maple. What more could a person ask for?! Great job, Sean!
Thank you! I appreciate you checking it out.
