Some recent stuff I have done, and a gift pen.

Oak. Don't know what kind, I have a few pieces of this oak, it started its post-tree life as cribbing used in power plants to hold machinery. Or packing while machinery was being moved. My FIL has a pile of this stuff. It is dry and hard as soft iron.

Same "vase," from top-ish.

Maple from our recent tree trimming experience.

Inside of maple bowl.

Walnut with a turquoise inlay. With the camera flash you can really see my uneven sides.

Bad tool use much less obvious here. Grin.

Inside. I have a hell of a time with powered rock inlay. Or any other for that matter I suppose. The sides are about 1/8" thick, the inlay was necessary because Mr Bowl decided to start coming apart while I was turning. So a bit of CA and some turquoise and away we go. But holy hell does that take a lot of sanding.

Bonus pen from another wood turner. No clue who did this. My step daughter recently went to WY, they visited a reservation and she thought it would be funny to get a wood pen for the pen-making guy. Funniest part? Pen maker / seller told her the wood is paduk. Went to WY for a tropical hardwood pen.

Non-blurry pen detail.
