Altoids Box

author-gravatar Timmy2Hands Apr 30, 2018

It occurred to me that my Altoids tin wasn’t very nice to look at or carry in my pocket, so I made myself a pretty little box to carry my mints in.

It’s the same marterial and construction method I used for my Pill Box just with defferent dimensions. So if you want to see how I made it just check out the link to my Pill Box Build

I'm not sure what species it is, but I know it's a Brazilian hardwood. The liner is made from Pine and the alignment inlay is quarter sawn Maple.

This little box is 3 5/8" wide, 2 3/16" deep, and 7/8" tall.

Isn't it awesome to make smaller projects like this? That's a nice box, Tim!

@Sean I agree, there is something so very satisfying about a silky smooth tiny little box made with really exotic wood.

I'd love to see more of the small box stuff. Really highlights the need for attention to details.

Scott,

This is so true. When you have a box that sits on the table and you show it to someone, they usually just open the lid or turn it to the side to admire it and it's about an arms length away. When you show someone a very small box they have to pick it up and hold it and it's a lot closer to the eye so tiny imperfections are much easier to notice both visually and tactilely.
